Build a One Page Personal Website

A personal academic website is becoming more popular with early career researchers. It’s one way for applicants to showcase their work, beyond their CV or resume. It can make them more memorable to future employers or colleagues, so they can progress in their career or be referred to positions or opportunities that align with their field or interests.

Many graduate students know it is important to create a personal academic website, but they often get stuck because they don’t know where to start. They don’t know what resources to use or what steps are necessary to take, so they procrastinate on making their website, until they have to throw something together at the last minute that they are not proud of.

The process of creating a personal academic website can be simple. Instead of focusing on technical features and graphic design, the goal is to create a website that clearly communicates their interests, features their best work, and highlights their skills and experience. This can improve their confidence in their expertise and knowledge.
